The World Federation of Direct Selling Associations (WFDSA) released the global direct sales industry statistics covering the calendar year of 2009.
In 2009 the global retail sales were 117,6 billion US $, whereas the salesforce reached 74 millions. The biggest direct selling markets are in USA (28.3 bn. $), Japan (22,5 bn. $), China (11 bn. $) and Brazil (8 bn. $), the biggest industry growth track – in fast developing countries.
75% sales are from person to person sales method, 18% from party plan and 7% from other sales strategies.
The biggest product category is Cosmetics & Personal Care,- 36% of sales, Wellness – 21%, Household goods – 20%, Clothing & Accessories – 8%.
